ADAMSDOWNHERE SOAPBOX

Adamsdownhere.co.uk is running a series of chats with members of the Adamsdown community.

New to the 'Soapbox' this week... Alan Tugwell from Cardiff's Prison talks to our reporter Arielle Tye about 'Clink Radio'

There are some interesting projects that go on inside the prison that most people don't know about.  Arielle spoke to Alan Tugwell about the prison radio station.

Councillor Nigel Howells represents Adamsdown on Cardiff Council, together with Councillor John Dixon. Councillor Howells is also the Executive Member for Sport Leisure and Culture. He shares with us what being a Councillor is all about, tells of his early happy Adamsdown memories, and let’s us into his world outside politics.

Father Roy Doxey has been the vicar of St Germans Church for 12 years. He tells us of the joys and challenges of serving the community of Adamsdown.

Our series kicked off with your local politicians, Jenny Randerson AM and Jenny Willott MP.

(NOT SO YOUNG) GIRLS AND BOYS COME OUT TO PLAY …

There's a lot of activities for young people in Adamsdown, but what about older  members of the community? Where can they go for fun and friendship?

Our reporter, Katy, found the answer is Adamsdown Day Centre, next to St Germans Church on Star Street. She spent a day there getting to know staff and day centre club members. They're a very friendly bunch. Click below to meet some of them:

Day Centre Manager, Marisa, says that there's room for new members to join – and  it only costs £2-80 a day including a hot lunch. So if you're interested call in at the Day Centre on Star Street or phone Marisa on Cardiff (029) 20 482899.
