Our Mission Statement

Adamsdownhere.co.uk is an exciting interactive website which exists as a reflection of the Adamsdown area of Cardiff. It is primarily and importantly for and about the people, places and issues of Adamsdown.

The primary editorial team is made up of a combination of students and staff from the University of Glamorgan. The site is run from the University's Atriumm building, itself within Adamsdown. We aim to work with other organisations and individuals to report a balanced view of local issues.

We are editorially independent from the University, Cardiff Council and all other organisations. To ensure high standards, we also adhere to Ofcom's Broadcasting Code.

The site will feature student- and community- generated content, to provide a space for local people to showcase their talents and have their say on what's happening in the area. Members of the community will be encouraged to submit anything they like to the website and to work in partnership with students, taking advantage of the Atrium's state of the art facilities to produce radio broadcasts and short films. It will feature news, documentaries and dramas and be updated daily throughout March 2009.

While the website will initially run throughout March, it is hoped that responsibility will be passed on to new students each year and there will be a legacy of a lasting partnership between the Atrium's students and the local community.
